Retreat Hotels & Resorts is a full-service developer, owner, asset manager, and operator of hotels and resort communities with a growing portfolio of award-winning properties and a presence in the East Coast and Midwest. Our relationships—with our guests, employees, and partners—are at the heart of everything we do. We’ve earned a reputation as an honest broker and trusted partner to local governments, investors, and top brands such as Marriott, Hilton, Choice, and independent flags by doing what we say we’ll do. 

Our team of knowledgeable, hard-working, ethical professionals has extensive experience across multiple asset classes, including hospitality, residential, multi-family, and commercial. We’ve developed more than half a billion dollars in hospitality assets to date and have a robust pipeline of new projects currently underway. Building on the legacies of two industry leaders with roots in public service, Retreat Hotels & Resorts brings a combined 140 years of experience and a mission-driven approach to hospitality.

It takes a trained eye and an expansive vision to see potential where others don’t. We’ve been doing it since 1985, when Retreat visited a dilapidated historic hotel on a little-known barrier island off the Georgia coast and envisioned a world-class resort. Today the four-star Jekyll Island Club Hotel is the centerpiece of Jekyll Island’s celebrated Historic District and the island receives more than 3.5 million visitors each year.

From getting up at dawn to walk the job site with our architect to spending late nights delving deep into market research, to marching through mosquito filled plots to better assess the topography, our team is dedicated, thorough, and responsive. It’s why so many of our partnerships—with government agencies, other developers, contractors, banks, and more—have turned into fruitful, long-term relationships. 

A Tradition Rooted in Service

Service is not just a core element of hospitality, service is in our DNA. 

Standing on the shoulders of those who came before us, our company’s roots are in public service. Our forebears started in real estate by providing quality, safe, affordable housing, while engaging in civil rights activism and today, we are led by a a former Peace Corps volunteer.  

We take our responsibility to communities seriously and strive to make a positive impact wherever we go. On Jekyll Island, where we’ve developed several properties, we’ve collaborated closely with community members and the Island Authority to protect the island’s delicate ecosystem while attracting transformative economic development to the area. Our team is engaged in a range of non-profit and civic organizations in the communities where we live and work and we are always looking for new ways to serve our neighbors.
